2012 Kentucky Derby

  • Bet on Horses

The Kentucky Derby is still a few months away 3 months 2 weeks and a day but who’s counting? Did you know the Kentucky Derby was the first race in a series of 3 races called The Triple Crown?

The Triple Crown made up of the Kentucky Derby, The Preakness and the Belmont Stakes, and is contested each year beginning with the Kentucky Derby run on the first Saturday in May, and finishes five weeks later with the Belmont Stakes. The races are restricted to 3-year-olds, so a horse only gets one chance to win. Eleven horses have swept the Triple Crown, and none have done it since 1978.

Did you know that Gallant Fox is the only Triple Crown winner to sire a Triple Crown winner? He won it in 1930, and his son Omaha did it in 1935!

The Kentucky Derby

The most famous race in the United States, The Kentucky Derby has been held at Churchill Downs every year since 1875 when Aristides won the first running. More money is bet on the Kentucky Derby than any other race in the US – even people who may not play any another race all year will often have a wager on the Derby.

Eddie Arcaro and Bill Hartack share the record for most Kentucky Derby wins by a jockey with five a piece, while Ben Jones leads all trainers with six victories between 1938 and 1952.

Animal Kingdom won the 2011 Kentucky Derby, with jockey John Velasquez and trainer Graham Motion.

Did you know that Sham ran the second fastest Kentucky Derby ever, and didn’t win the race? He ran second in 1973, the year Secretariat won it in a record time of 1:59.40.

The Preakness Stakes

Pimlico Racecourse in Baltimore is home to the Preakness Stakes, the middle jewel of the Triple Crown. It is traditionally run two weeks after the Kentucky Derby. The race is named in honor of the colt Preakness, who won the opening day feature at Pimlico when the track first opened in 1870.

Eddie Arcaro leads all jockeys with six wins in the race, while trainer R. Wyndham Walden captured the event seven times between 1875-1888.

Shackleford won the 2011 Preakness, with jockey Jesus Castanon and trainer Dale Romans.

Did you know that Smarty Jones has the largest margin of victory in the Preakness – he won by 11-1/2 lengths in 2004!

The Belmont Stakes

The last leg of the Triple Crown is also its longest – 1-1/2 miles over the huge Belmont Park. It’s also the oldest Triple Crown race, with the first running of the Belmont Stakes in 1867. Not to many moments in sports are as exciting as when a horse enters the starting gate in the Belmont Stakes with a chance to win the Triple Crown.

Jim McLaughlin and Eddie Arcaro are tied for the most wins by a jockey with six apiece, while trainer James G. Rowe won eight in the 19th century.

Ruler On Ice won the 2011 Belmont Stakes. His jockey was Jose Valdivia Jr., and his trainer Kelly Breen.

Did you know that trainer Woody Stephens won the Belmont Stakes five times in succession? He was in the winner’s circle from 1982-1986

There are over 500 contending horses for the Kentucky Derby at the moment so get your pick weeded out and get ready for May. Check out the odds on your favorite horse here.

So you can’t see me in the picture but here I am at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway Sunday Aug 14 2011. And I’ll bet (no pun intended) you’re wondering what this has to do with online gambling. Well while I was walking around the New Hampshire Motor Speedway I used my cell phone to place a wager on the outcome of the big event. That didn’t turn out so well but more on that later. After that while waiting for the big race to start I played some real cash blackjack sitting in the bleachers with my cell phone.

How, you ask?

Easy, first you’ll need to set up an account at SBG Global, second thing you will need to do is to deposit a little money into your account and third scan the QR Code at the bottom of this blog with your smart phone. Once at the log in screen I recommend saving the link to your favorites list and adding it some ware where you can find it easy. After saving the link enter your login info and password and you’re all set to place wagers any ware you happen to be.

If you’re really lazy you can just scan the QR Code and set the whole thing up backards, it will still work it’s just a little time consuming.

I am working on some better bonuses and no deposit casino bonuses for SBG Global but for now all they offer is a 265% sign up bonus for the Sports Book, a 200% sign up bonus for the Casino and a 150% sign up bonus for Poker.

So there you have it SBG Global is very fast and convenient, oh yeah my driver ended up crashing with 6 laps to go and they say she took out a few other drivers out with her and it was a big fiasco and whatever.  I did not win the odds on the race but I did have a good time. Go Danica!

Good luck, and keep sending me those big winners and be sure to let me know if you won on a No Deposit Casino Bonus or Straight cash. Check out the winners here.

Have fun while I dig for more great offers and don’t forget to sign up for my $215 $530 worth of Casino Play.

Until next time
